From a characterization of computer systems as tools for interaction and communication, this paper seeks to broaden the discussion of designing for interaction beyond the interface. It underlines the importance of studying social practices arising from the increasingly intensive use of computer technology, considering the all-pervasive presence and mobility of computers as decisive factors in contemporary communication processes.
